Just flipped through the new issue of Adore Magazine - loved all the bright spring florals! More on that tomorrow, but for the meantime, here's an office nook I would love to snap my fingers and have in my home...
Table Madness
I'm just mad for these new Nixon tables by Jonathan Adler. Totally head over heels and scheming up a spot for them in my home...

We Gone Country
courtesy of Country Home
Well, we all haven't gone country around here, but I'm jonesing for my country house right now - especially after researching Dutch Doors for a client that is requesting one.
The original purpose of these doors was to keep the farm animals out of the house, while letting a little light in
For example:
Can't you just imagine yourself leaning out the door, gazing at the rolling meadows and your cute little piggies and Sicilian Donkeys while having a cup of joe in the morning?

They even have cool ones for the kiddies:

Shut the front door, these are so cute. I could look at them all day!

Last Night Lighting
Last night I had dinner with some good friends at Culina at the Four Seasons {Beverly Hills} The food was just eh, but the lighting above was wow.
Tonight's dinner will {hopefully} be better - I'm cooking some yummys from the Two Dudes One Pan cookbook {the guys who own Animal here in LA} Wish me luck!

Momeni Lil Mo Kids Rugs–On Sale at OKL
Known for their exquisite handmade Persian carpets, Momeni also offers a whimsical children’s rug line named Lil Mo that I am sure you will adore. A friend who purchased one for her baby boy’s nursery recently introduced me to the darling collection. The playful characters and muted color scheme was important, but she was most impressed with the softness of the hand-hooked pure cotton and texture of the cut-loop construction.
I too am impressed by the quality and variety of styles and colors… perfect for all types of nursery and children’s rooms.
And if you have been searching for an area rug for your child’s room, you are in luck because Lil Mo rugs are now on sale at One Kings Lane. Hurry – the sales end April 1st at 11am EST.
"Style, Remembered . . . "
Greetings,
The young man from Mississippi was just 14 years old - and he always loved Saturday morning. It meant several things. Firstly, it meant that there was no need to awake early for school. No. The young man from Mississippi would awake to a much different schedule.
8:00 am. First request from Mother that he get up.
8:14 am. Follow-up request from Mother that he get up.
8:29 am. Final request (and really, we all knew this was the only real wake-up call)
8:34 am. Breakfast. Scrambled eggs. Bacon. Coffee (with lots of cream and sugar)
8:48 am. Breakfast finished.
8:50 am. Bathroom visit.
8:54 am. Second cup of coffee (again, with lots of cream and sugar)
8:55 am. Meet Mother back in the den.
8:56 am. Turn on Television.
8:57 am. Settle into the loveseat. Gather pillows and a light-weight blanket.
8:58 am. Build nest from the aforementioned pillows and blanket.
8:59 am. Get comfortable.
9:00 am. CNN.
God I loved this show. And that it meant spending time with my Mom watching Elsa. Magically bringing style and fashion from around the globe into our little den in rural Mississippi.
Does anyone else remember watching this every week? Is it just me?
Cheers,
Scot
Look for Less - Serena and Lily edition
It's been a while since I did a Look for Less posting - but this one jumped out at me while I was perusing through my stack of catalogs last week... One of these shelves is from Serena & Lily and costs $1295. The other is from Home Decorators Collection and costs $399.
Ok, so I think it's kind of obvious, only because the photo quality of the second one is so much better, but #1 is the look for less by Home Decorators Collection, and #2 is the pricier version from Serena & Lily.
But once they were put in your home and styled up with books, candles, picture frames and tchotckes - would you be able to tell the difference? Maybe only by the $896 difference in your bank account.

Spring/Summer Essentials
Although Houston enjoys moderate winters, there's just something about Spring that puts a little bounce in my step. Perhaps it's the promise of summer (though my summer vacations have long since passed) or the newly budding flowers, but a gorgeous spring day never fails to put me in a good mood. And, of course, I love spring and summer fashions: the bright colors, the perky prints, fabulous sandals and wedges...it's just so refreshing after months of grays on black.
This Spring, I'm looking to update my wardrobe with some fresh new staples that are easy wearing...and easy washing (both Baby G. and I seem to go through several wardrobe changes a day now)! The type of clothes that will transition from mommy-hood to my pretty casual office. Navy and white (especially white jeans!) are my go-to's for warmer weather, but I'll be updating the classic nautical pairing with bright accessories like those gorgeous Tory Burch Sandals (orange and hot pink are both amazing with navy) and fun prints like Kate Spade's Daycation shopper. An on-trend maxi dress in a bold print is an easy weekend staple that will keep me cool and casual without feeling schleppy. Finally, I'm longing to swap out my everyday watch for something fun, light and a little bit different, like Michael Kors' resin and rose gold watch.
Clockwise (from top left): Coral Dress (Tory Burch), Jersey Blazer (Boden), Daycation Bon Shopper (Kate Spade), Denim Pleated Trouser Short (Gap), Gold Coast Lacey wallet (Kate Spade), Stripe Sunburst Tank (J.Crew), Horton Sandals (Tory Burch), Michael Kors Show Stopper Resin Watch (Nordstrom), Sexy Boot Surplus Jeans in White (Gap), and Dorrie Skirt (J.Crew).
What pieces are you craving this Spring? Any new trends you're dying to try out?
Simple Handmade Flower Garland & Chicks!
Last week we experienced a huge rain storm and the kids were going a little crazy inside. So, I decided to have them help me decorate for spring by creating flower garland to hang in a window.
Using pre-cut paper flowers, pastel water colors, pom poms and grosgrain ribbon the kids created some beautiful flowers.
I was impressed with the different color schemes, textures and patterns. It was a simple project and such a fun, inexpensive way to decorate for spring.
And what better way to celebrate spring than with some baby chicks? You may recall that we’ve been thinking about raising backyard chickens for sometime. The chicken coop hasn’t been built yet, but the chicks have arrived. Their names are Fluffy and Chipmunk. Can you tell which one is which? {wink, wink} We are crossing our fingers they are both hens. A rooster would have to be sent to a farm.
If you have raised chickens , I’d love to hear your advice!

Greetings,
Get comfortable on the little sofa.
Clear your mind.
Just let it wander.
And for heaven's sake . . .
Stay calm.
