Sparkles Sparkles!

I spotted this gorgeous gold sparkle purse in this month's Martha Stewart Weddings (only $180 by Moyna Bags)...

It reminded me of this amazing staircase designed by Mark Zeff!

I am a sucker for anything sparkly!

*UPDATE - Just went to the Moyna Bags website - it's only $76... Now I'm REALLY tempted!

The Word of the Day is... NOOK

Earlier today I posted on some fabulous office nooks - I just saw this reading nook in Canadian House and Home magazine. It's a nook-y kind of day!

Stairway to Heaven

I'm a junkie for gorgeous architectural details... I spent most of Sex and the City 2 obsessing over Carrie and Big's light switches (trust me, they were gorgeous.)

These stairs are fabulous on their own. But add to it that they are on a YACHT?! Killer.

I love a floating staircase. They are not-to-code here in California, but I would love to have them in my dream Malibu house someday...

The lighting on these stairs - that's McDREAMY for me.

S is for... Stairs

While I live in a one-story house, I find myself infatuated with interesting staircases. Here are two beauties:

From Kelly Wearstler's home (featured in Metropolitan Home)
It's almost got an MC Esher vibe - which way is up?

Loving these riser-less stairs that project out from the wall - though I might get vertigo going down them!

...Must come down

In November I blogged about my favorite stairs in "What Goes Up." This month's Dwell had such great stairs, I felt compelled to write a sequel post "Must Come Down."

First one is from the Zulaikha Laurence residence by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects

These are from Andrew Maynard Architects...

What goes up...

I've had this picture in my files for a long time...
It's from Dwell, June 2006. If I'm ever remodeling a two-story home and need a spiral staircase (unlikely, but who knows), I will DEFINITELY whip this image out as inspiration.

I've held onto it for a long time, hoping to find a friend-image to pair it with. Finally! It came last week in the Dec 08 Metropolitan Home. It's friend has arrived.

Even more than the stairs, I love the glass separating the entry foyer from the staircase, the concrete wall and the cuckoo clock I blogged about a few weeks ago...
