With Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York launching today {yipee! schedule here}, I thought this the perfect time to write about one of my favorite designers. It's already been chatted up in shelter magazines, national newspapers and blogland. But in case you haven't heard, in July Lee Jofa announced its first licensed collection of home fabrics from fashion legend, Oscar de la Renta. The fabric collection includes 25 designs in silk, linen, velvet and cotton which range from delicate floral embroidery to ethnic-inspired prints. The fabrics feature the fine tailoring and opulent detail that is the Oscar de la Renta signature.
In the Lee Jofa press release, Oscar de la Renta said, “Fabrics have always played an extraordinarily important part in my collections. I am very excited about this latest extension of Oscar de la Renta Home with Lee Jofa, a company that shares my commitment to craftsmanship and quality.”
In August, Kravet's Inpired.Talk unveiled their Lee Jofa showroom at the D&D Building in NYC launching the Oscar de la Renta Home for Lee Jofa collections. The designer room was styled by Oscar Home creative director and interior designer Miles Redd. And the fabrics are available in to the trade in Lee Jofa showrooms nationwide.
As reported in The Editor at Large, the hand-made ballroom skirts created for the launch of his fabric collection with Lee Jofa, Oscar de la Renta will be auctioned online September 7 - November 30 at www.biddingforgood.com {opening bid of $750}. All proceeds will benefit Casa del NiƱo, an organization he founded in 1982 with Xiomara Menendez to help children in the Dominican Republic.
On another note, Erika Ward from BluLabel Bungalow featured an article I wrote called, Social Media 101 by Simplified Bee. The article recaps a panel I served on for a social media discussion sponsored by Kravet and Lee Jofa in their San Francisco showroom. It gives a broad overview of social media and how it can help grow your business. Thanks Erika!
Are you following fashion week? If so, which designer's collection are you eager to see?
