Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay

You only have until September 6, 2010 to attend the exhibition, Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay at San Francisco's de Young Museum. The Musée d’Orsay of Paris is currently being renovated, giving us this rare opportunity to view nearly 100 magnificent works from the Impressionist masters.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of touring the impressive exhibition. It featured inspiring works by the famous masters who gathered in France during the mid- to late-19th century and jointly created the style, Impressionism. Notable masters showcased include Manet, Monet, Renoir and Sisley. {The Swing by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1876) show above}

Some of my favorite works were a selection of Degas’ paintings including The Dancing Lesson by Edgar Degas (1873–1876) shown above.

If you are able to attend, I would recommend selecting an early morning time slot {very crowded, but managed well}, purchasing the audio tour and enjoying the white bean veggie soup at the museum's cafe.
