Rugs, Not Drugs

The only rugs we have in our house to date are the two little Ikea bedside ones. Since we have hardwood floors everywhere and canvas Roman shades (rather than drapery, which would absorb sound) our house it a little bit of an echo chamber. Remember people, acoustics are key. A house can look good, but if you are hearing what Aunt Edna said bounce around the room for 5 minutes after she said it, it's time for a rug.

The above two rugs are by the great menswear designer, Paul Smith. Kind of Pucci-esque?

This rug, while very feminine, would look great juxtaposed against black lacquered, super clean and modern furniture. With a "naked" light fixture...

All rugs above from The Rug Company.

I found these above rugs while looking for Suzanis on Madeline Weinrib Atelier

Of course if you want something solid colored, you could get a White Flokati from Crate and Barrel (or your local flokati man, but you'll have to bribe me to get me to reveal my source)

Or be un-environmental and get a cowhide - either black or zebra print (actual zebra rugs are a little creepy - they have the mane and tail still attached). These are from LA store Plantation

Stay off the drugs. Get on the rugs.
